THE RECORDS ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN

Wow, I really can't believe we made it: Swimrun World Champions and a new course record in women's category!

Preparing the Ötillö World Championship is always a big challenge. We have to put in so much training to be ready to approach this race in the best possible way.

Anna is a young mum with 2 kids, a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old. Although she stopped swimming 2 years ago (after winning the World Championship with our good friend Desiree Andersson) to focus on long distance running, she was constantly training during her pregnancy.

Anna and I decided to race together in June 2025, only 3 months before the World Championship. She was motivated to resume her swim training and prepare to set a significant new goal with me: attempt to win the World Championship and break the women's record.

Her rapid improvement in swimming was remarkable. Rather than training in the pool, she focused on swimming in open water, allowing her to save time and return home quickly to be with her children after completing her training.

I spent 3 weeks in Sweden in late July - early August. During this time we raced together at the Ötillö World Series in Gothenburg, we won and continued training after it to fit a big block of training before the big day. It was incredible to observe how she managed to train hard while organizing her entire training schedule to seamlessly align with her family life.

To be named the "favourite" in a race is never easy, we knew that. Even if on the paper you maybe are the one who has the best chance of winning you still have to do it, you have to compete out there and show what you are capable of.

On Monday, 1st of September, we followed our plan. We worked perfectly as a team, helping each other all along the way. Reaching the finish line first with a new course record in the women's category was a dream come true. Everything went as we planned and we were able to make it!

I hope that our performance will bring more women to this sport, to meet up with other women and to try to reach higher goals together!
